Fall Traditions

As the weather slowly begins to cool down and the nights come sooner, fall brings several traditions that my husband and I enjoy. One of these is visiting our local farmer's market for pumpkins, apples and gourds for decorating.

Last year I baked a pumpkin pie and roasted seeds from our pumpkins, and I think we will do that again this year considering both were so good!

We also take a fall backpacking trip for 4 days and 3 nights during 'fall break' at our school. Last year we went to Mammoth Cave National Park and had a wonderful time watching the leaves fall all around us as we hiked.

We also got to see horses that shared the trail with us!
This year, we are planning a trip to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park or Shenandoah National Park (still deciding!).

Some other traditions we are hoping to start this year:
What does your family do every year? A fall vacation? Apple picking? Watching the leaves turn? A visit to the Pumpkin Patch? Special foods? Special events that you always observe? Share your family's fall traditions at Simply Sugar and Gluten Free where participants will have a chance to win a set of 3 Wilton Baking Racks.

I love Mammoth park! I haven't been there since high school. I'm also going out to our farmers market for pumpkins next week. Roasted pumpkin seeds are my favorite!
